In 2010, the Byron Bay Writers Festival Secondary Schools program celebrated the new wave of writers across genres. Within the conversations and panels you found the freshest young voices, tempered by writers at the peak of their careers in fiction, fantasy, poetry, art and memoir. Not just theory, this was writing in action and truly a program to inspire, educate and entertain.

Heading up the program for the Secondary Schools Day at the Byron Bay Writers Festival 2010 were Kim Cheng Boey, Omar Musa, Maria van Daalen, Rebecca James, Shamini Flint , Phillip Gwynne, Kate Howarth, James Knight, Kim Falconer, Angelo Loukakis, Susan Maushart, O Thiam Chin, Peter Skrzynecki, Mohezin Tejani, Amy Barker, Daniel DuCrou, Darren Groth, Reg Mombassa, Damien Leith, Tasma Walton and Fourth Wall.

This year the Byron Bay Writers Festival is proud to present two writers whose well-loved books have made them household names to parents, teachers, librarians and children around the country – URSULA DUBOSARSKY and TERRY DENTON.
